Bug in Citadelserver on Ubuntu Server Edition 12.04 LTS
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 13, 2013
We are migrating to Ubuntu Server Edition from CentOS. We use the Citadel mail/groupware server a lot but there's a bug in Citadel resulting in the delete button in web mail not to work. The bug is described here:
Is there a way to fix this without upgrading either Ubuntu Server or Citadel Server, and what would it take to run a newer version of Citadel Server on 12.04 to fix this problem?

How to upgrade Citadel on Ubuntu Server Edition 12.04 LTS?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 18, 2013
I have a Ubuntu 12.04 Server Edition in production with Citadel as mail server. It runs well with heavy traffic so I am afraid to mess with it. However, there's an annoying bug in the Citadel version that comes on 12.04: The "Delete" button in web mail doesn't delete messages but only hides them until you refresh. On the Citadel version coming with 13.04 this is fixed. I would really like to be able to upgrade Citadel, but when I try I run into dependency problems and it won't install. I was wondering if anyone here could help me find a way to get a newer version of Citadel installed on 12.04 that doesn't include building it on the server something I would rather not do on this particular system.
Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud (12.04)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 31, 2012
I am installing Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud using the image of Ubuntu Server 12.04 for cloud, however, the installation result is not the expected.
During the installation, no screen (not even one) regarding cloud options appears. I was expecting for the screen where I was to select cloud installation mode (Cloud controller, Walrus storage service, etc), or the screen to configure the cluster name, but no one of this interface/menu appeared.
It is like if I choose the option "Install Ubuntu Server" instead of the option "Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud" from the main menu of the Ubuntu installation CD.
Anyone can help me about this problem?
Ubuntu Server LTS 12.04 Adding SSL to webserver causes hang on boot?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 28, 2013
Added SSL to a webserver only to find that when the prompt comes up to enter the password, no time is offered to actually type it in. Apparently additional processes take over with the new default concurrent bootup. The system later hangs. I CAN boot using the recovery mode + resume normal bootup, as this gives me the time to enter the passphrase. Editing the startup in /etc/init.d/rc by changing concurrency to "none" didn't help.
MySQL uses CPU 161% @ Ubuntu Linux Server 12.04.1
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 11, 2013
when i check the running-processes I notice:
CPU load averages: 8.76 (1 mins) , 10.82 (5 mins) , 11.32 (15 mins)
CPU type: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz , 2 cores
ID Owner CPU Command
943 mysql 161 % /usr/sbin/mysqld
When I check the memory use:
Real memory: 3.45 GB total / 2.70 GB free Swap space: 4 GB total / 4 GB free
ID Owner Size Command
943 mysql 383568 kB /usr/sbin/mysqld
For some reason the MySQL-program uses a lot of CPU. It uses about 161% of CPU.
Is there a way that i can modify MySQL to reduce the CPU-use?
using Ubuntu Live CD 12.04 to purge virus on Windows Vista
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 3, 2013
A friend who is not too computer savvy has telephoned me for some technical help.
She has a virus contaminated Windows PC and is now being blackmailed by a caller to remove a planted virus.
I've told her to not use her PC until I have a look.
From what I gather I believe the attacker has been given remote access to her PC since she
followed some telephoned instructions from this rogue caller.
She is seeing a white screen.
I've warned against crook callers who masquerade as Microsoft Support and plant viruses.
Another possibility is her younger family using the shared PC for games.
Tomorrow I'm going to pay a visit with my Ubuntu 12.04 Live CD to try to sort this out on the Windows box.
What procedure is recommended to run Ubuntu live CD to clear out host PC windows virus(es)?
I've looked at Clamtk but the latest Clamtk runs on 13.04 (not my 12.04).
Could I run AVG (windows only) in wine on Ubuntu 12.04 to clear out viruses on the (contaminated) Windows partition?

Ubuntu Server, Precise 12.04 How to admin? I am very confused.

I humbly ask you to post only if you know exactly what is about and you have experienced on your own skin. (Example: I have received some advices in the past regarding boot-splash manager which broken the system up. They where good but maybe for another ubuntu version)

Software Center (Lubuntu/Ubuntu/Linux Mint) 12.04 LTS
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 8, 2013
Since all systems are based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Do all software centers contain the same programs? Or one has more options than the others?
I know who you can install Ubuntu software center on Lubuntu and Mint. But wonder why. Only explanations is if there is a difference somewhere. But even then, if you find it to install, it will also install all required packages.
Anyhow, a bit confused...
HOWTO: Minecraft Guide for 12.04: Installation, Mods, and Troubleshooting
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 15, 2012
You have to purchase Minecraft from Minecraft.net, and make an account before you can install it. If you have an account, you can select to download the "Other Systems" file, which works with anything that can run Java. This is the version that we'll be using. It should be called "minecraft.jar" when it downloads.
Open your terminal, and run:
chmod +x minecraft.jar
This allows you to run the .jar file. You are now able to do so. Right click, and select to open with a Java JRE. OpenJDK-6-JRE is the default, or you can install OpenJDK-7-JRE or use a PPA to get the official proprietary version.
You can create a startup script for Minecraft. This isn't necessary, but this will allow you to do things such as have Minecraft as a desktop icon, and customize how you start it up later on.
A hassle-free startup script. Just put i
