[SOLVED] Ubuntu: How do you give sftp root privilege to user?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 18, 2010
This is my first thread ever to make on the linux forum, and I just began using linux Ubuntu Lucid for my server.
Please bare with me because I think I am questioning such a basic question.
How do you give sftp root privilege to user?
I've made group "admin" and made 2 users under that group.
Trying to upload a file onto a server using SFTP with one of the user and it fails and says "Permission denied."
I gave full sudo/root permission to the group "admin" from /usr/sbin/visudo
I mainly use Tranmit4 but I also have filezilla.
Or is there a way to run sudo command on either ftp client application?
Thank you all!

802.11n unable to see 5 Ghz network
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 1, 2009
I've got Linksys WUSB600N adapter, it worked out of the box and connects to 11g/2.4 Ghz networks fine. However, if I set my Linksys WRT320N to 5 Ghz Wifi mode Ubuntu cannot see the network. I have the SSID set to transmit and my house mate's iMac can see the network. I've tried using the connect to hidden network option with no wireless security enabled, but that was no dice also.
Wifi not connecting to 802.11n 5ghz
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 6, 2012
although on Windows I connect to the 5ghz freq at 150mbps nominal, it does not work on linux.
I can see it with sudo iwlist scan, but don't know how to connect to it (plus it tells me 54mbps, is it right?).

Ubuntu 11.10 802.1q trunking is not functioning
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 26, 2011
I've used Ubuntu 11.04 and Dynagen for emulation of virtual routers and made it possible to trunk multiple Vlans via single ethernet port down to the physical switch. Just can't find a clue why but recently I've upgraded ubuntu to 11.10 and now vlan trunking is not working for me. I'm not Ubuntu specialist and can't find a way to make it function as it did previously so your help is vital and much appreciated.
Made following to enable 802.1q trunking:
sudo apt-get install vlan
sudo modprobe 8021q
To load module after reboot add to /etc/modules:
sudo sh -c 'grep -q 8021q /etc/modules || echo 8021q >> /etc/modules'
sudo ifconfig eth1 mtu 1536
To make it permanent:
“/sbin/ifconfig eth1 mtu 1536” to /etc/rc.local
"lsmod | grep 8021q" brings me following output:
Module Size Used by
8021q 24173 0
garp 14602 1 8021q
The module is loaded so are there any problems with new release itself?
