location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 8, 2009
Sorry, I'm a newbie to Ubuntu and I can't watch Youtube videos and other things because I need the latest version of Adobe Flash. Do I download the .tar.gz extension? How do I install it? Thanks.
Running Dapper & Can't Install Flash Player 10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 7, 2008
Hi I am hoping that somebody out there can help...
Since the web upgrade to FlashPlayer 10 I have not been able to use any FlashPlayer facilities online including YouTube etc.
I am running Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.06 LTS with Firefox 18.104.22.168
I am super happy with my computer system, it's great and very customisable, so don't want to upgrade, but I can't install flash player 10 on my machine.
When I download it from adobe, it arrives and sits neatly on my desktop, there to stay! I click to extract and click to run the installation package, it seems to install fine but when I visit a flash site I find myself in the same predicament.
I have tried the direct 'install plugin' buttons online, they seem to download properly and tell me that flash has been installed, yet when I hit youtube, there are no videos visible!
I have tried turning off my machine after the install and restarting fresh, but no joy...
I've checked add/remove and synaptic package manager and can't find anyt
How to install flash player for 64bit Ubuntu 10.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 16, 2011
I'm a begginner, new at the forum and I'm trying Ubuntu for the first time.
I did install Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit at my Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop.
Well I did some installations via Ubuntu software center only, and I'm not that familiar with the terminal.
Hope you guys can help me with that.
The first thing I need is the Flash Player to be able to visualize videos on Firefox.
I'm not shure if there is a bug related to video in this version of Ubuntu, if so I could try another one as I'm just starting to use Linux and Ubuntu and it wouldn't be a problem to restart it all if this could solve this and future problems.
So .. I've just downloaded a preview release for Flash Player with native suport for native Linux 64-bit at Adobe. it is called "Flash Player Square" and seems to be unstable, a Beta version.
I have no idea what to do with it ... (laughs) how to open, execute etc.
Thanks so much and sorry if I'm asking at the wrong forum.

I tried to install Flash Player 10.1 but it didn't work. I noticed that this issue is problematic.
I tried many techniques to install that flash player, all of them didn't work. Among them are:
The usual way, by choosing apt here and received the usual error message "Package 'adobe-flashplugin' is virtual."
etc, whatever was found on the internet
Flash Player 10 and older Ubuntu.

Before people start telling me I need to upgrade to 8.04, yes, I know 6.06 is old, but I have a working system, and have no desire to risk losing all I have, or spend a couple of weeks getting everything back together because a few sites have starting requiring Flash Player 10.
This is more of an informational post, than a request for a fix.
I have been trying to get Flash Player 10 to work in my Ubuntu 6.06. I did try the download via .deb for Ubuntu, but got a library error, and the install did not work. (See post: Flash Player - ERROR: Your glibc library is older than 2.2.)
I pulled the tar.gz file, unpacked it and copied the libflashplayer.so to the .mozilla/plugins directory.
Even though the file exists, any time I visit a site with flash content, I am told I need to install the flash plugin.
All right, I think to myself, let the Firefox browser get it. (Firefox 2.0). I click on install the plugin. The browser goes it's merry way, gets the file installs it (I ge

HOW TO: Easily install Flash Player 9 Firefox Plugin
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 1, 2008
After working on this all morning, I have finally found a way to install Flash Player 9 (firefox plug-in) in a couple minutes with no scripts or manual configuration.
1. Go to a website that requires flash player (not youtube). I personally used www.denveroutlaws.com
2. If it asks you to install missing plug-ins (showing the little puzzle piece thing) click on it.
3. choose Flash Player (9) and hit next.
4. It should automatically download and install.
P.S. If the website doesn't show the puzzle piece, refresh might make it show.
