Network Printer Not Found
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 24, 2010
My current set up is as such:
WIndows/Arch Linux dual-boot PC connected by USB cable to Canon PIXMA MP640 printer. I have a laptop with Xubuntu installed which I am trying to connect to the printer by Wi-Fi. Both the desktop PC and the laptop are connected to a Linksys modem/router by ethernet and wireless respectively.
My router confirms that the printer is connected to it, but the device doesn't show up when searching for it with CUPS. It may be relevant that the printer doesn't have a client host name. I have the printer's IP and MAC address but that's all. I am able to ping the Windows PC but not the printer's IP address.
I am able to get the printer working when I connect to it by USB cable, the device is found and everything works fine, suggesting to me it may be a networking issue.
So basically, I would like assistance in what I may need to do to get the printer working wirelessly.
Network Printer Not Found

I am new to Ubuntu operating system. I have been able to set up most of the things on the computer except the network printers.
I have two printers (Konika Minolta magicolor 2400 W and HP Office jet 4500 installed on a computer running Windows XP SP3. When I view the networking places, the Ubuntu 11.10 machine shows me all the shared documents on the XP machine. But when I try to install printer on the Ubuntu machine, it does not find either of the network printers. I need help in installing the printers on the Ubuntu computer.
Canon MP980 as network printer not found on Oneiric 11.10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 25, 2011
I have a Canon MP980. Used to work well under previous Ubuntu versions. Now I cannot find it, not even if look for it with its IP.
The printer works fine if I use it when shared via Samba on another computer (with ubuntu 11.04 installed). Still, I need to use the printer also when other computers in the network are turned off.
I use Gnome 3 instead of unity.
I already tried using system-config-printer and localhost:631, but with no better luck.
I can reach the printer correctly if I ping its IP or put its IP in the browser.
Any help sincerely appreciated.
printer not connected error

Hi, I'm having issues printing PRF files on my HP laserjet P1006. I'm still with Hardy Heron and never had that prob before. I tried updating adobe reader and couldn't get the .bin file to execute. Then I realised I first got that issue trying to print remotely from my laptop. So I updated HPLIP and now nothing prints at all... still get that "printer may not be connected" message.
here's an output suggested on hplip help page

Canon 1023IF network printer not working
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 21, 2012
Hi! So, I am trying to get this network printer to work. It already has a fixed IP (192.168.0.123), and it responds normally whenever I ping it.
I have already installed the driver that I downloaded from Canon's official website, and I have tried to add the printer through Gnome's menu, in System > Administration > Printing, but the printer just does nothing after doing that.
My Ubuntu version is 10.04.
What can I do to make it work? ANY help would be much appreciated!
Ubuntu: network printer

I've a problem: I cannot make the printer work in network.
Printer: HP Laserjet 2300
The problem is that I cannot make the other computer to print in network. Locally the printer is working properly. As a newbie I cannot say that if the problem is in sharing or there is something wrong in configuration on the computer that I'm supposed to use in network. I've tried CUPS, UNIX and HP JetDirect but nothing (and yes, the IP is correct that I'm using)... Could someone please help me?
network printer not found (Canon MP 970)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 16, 2015
I was hoping to hitch a ride with a year-old thread on this forum where somebody could not get their Canon MP970 working.
My problem starts at a much more basic level: the laptop simply can't see the printer. I have started the New Printer process, gone to 'find network printer' and ... nothing.
I assume "Host" in that window stands for either the IP of the router or the IP of the printer on the LAN, but neither IP works when I try it on the cups (what does cups stand for, anyway?) - it simply doesn't register. The printer works fine with 3 windows machines over the same router. There are various options for ipps but I can't make heads or tails out of that lot.
No idea what to do - I'm a complete linux noob. Incidentally I am using Mint, not Ubuntu, but they seem to have the same mechanisms ...
Network printer: Processing Not connected?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 2, 2011
I have a Brother DCP7065DN attached to the network. Previously I was able to print to it with no problem from my 10.04 desktop. Suddenly this week everytime I go to print something I get the following message in the print queue: Processing - Not connected? I've also noticed that when I send a print job to the printer a little blue circle with an "i" in it appears over the printer icon in the System>Administration>Printing window. I've deleted and added the printer a few times and cycled the power to both devices. I've tried managing it through localhost:631 but nothing seems to fix the problem. I seem to remember CUPS being updated in the last week but I'm not sure. Can anyone help me?
