Where should libflashplayer.so go?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 21, 2009
Something happened to my flash 9 installation for both konquerer and firefox. Whenever I loaded a page with flash they would lock up for 5-10 seconds. It got annoying so I figured I'd try flash 10, I see that there is a 64 bit version of it out now.
I downloaded the libflashplayer.so file from the firefox plugin site, but can't figure out where to put it. I tried looking around in /usr/lib/ /usr/lib64/, and many other directories, and got into a whole bunch of symbolic links...where should this .so go?
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit.
where is libflashplayer.so?

<Solved>Why are Ubuntu and Zenwalk so easy to ping?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 11, 2008
I have a question:
With Ubuntu and Zenwalk, as soon as I install them on my machines they can ping each other via their computer names (e.g: computername.local) without me needing to know their IP addresses (DHCP assigned).
However, distros like Fedora, sidux, etc., do not have that functionality out-of-the-box.
So what services/packages are installed in Ubuntu/Zenwalk that enables them to do it so easily? Is that Avahi or something else?
segfault error 4 in libflashplayer.so
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 17, 2009
Can anyone help with this? My browser crashes when loading gmail, etc. Here's some troubleshooting info:
$ uname -a
Linux MyBox 2.6.28-17-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 1 21:27:25 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I'm running Swiftweasel 3.5. I installed Flash 64 bit using these instructions:
Everything was working until I attempted to install Sun Java. (I have since reinstalled java and I think that issue is resolved.) But Swiftweasel started crashing on me as soon as any site invokes libflashplayer.so. Even Chromium gives an error message that libflashplayer.so crashed. Chromium stays open, but Swiftweasel just completely closes down. It even crashes with Gmail.
dmesg shows this:
[1006342.809123] exe: segfault at a018 ip 00007fd0eeb84cf2 sp 00007fff2aec4700 error 4 in libflashplayer.so[7fd0ee935000+8cf000]
I have already reinstalled Swiftweasel and reinstalled flash.
What else can I do?

I try to copy this file "libflashplayer.so" into "usr/lib/chromium-browser/plugins" and it gives me an error saying that I am not the owner and I am unable to do so.

Hi, I'm newbie of linux.(Caught me in 5 mins to become a linux fans)
I tried to install flashplayer debugger ver for chrome.
I searched google for 2 days and couldn't found a solution.
The most common I got is to make the plugins into whatever "libflashplayer original" in(Including making a even-non-exist directory to chrome folder) and I replace them all with the new one.
Then using google-chrome --enable-plugins.
And type aboutlugins at the address bar.
I got nothing about flashplayer!!
Ubuntu desktop 10.10 amd64. Chrome 10.0.642.2 dev
Please help me to fix it.
--------Oh, and I got these output when running chrome~~~~~
[32045:32045:14318302937:ERROR:native_library_linux.cc(32)] dlopen failed when trying to open default_plugin: default_plugin: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libflashplayer.so in chromium keeps crashing
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 21, 2010
Almost everyday i keep getting this message from Chromium:
/usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so crashed. It's not real problem, because my browser keeps working, but it's really annoying seeing that message everyday. Everything on my Chromium 7.0.517.44 Ubuntu 10.04 is updated, and I don't know why this is happening. Really i don't care WHY it's happening i just want to fix it! Can somebody tell me how?
All you need is Ubuntu Clinton says so! ;)

Why are Ubuntu upgrades still so much trouble?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 8, 2011
I wait, and wait and hope someday that Ubuntu would have seamless upgrades.
Upgrades have always been a hassle since day one with Ubuntu.
I'm really tired of it. Why is this still such a problem?
I am finally going to upgrade 8.04 to 10.04 but now I have to go to 9.10 first. And it's taking forever, slow, slow, slow.
Who thought network upgrades would be a good idea? Did they think that they wouldn't have to throttle the server ever?
And so I'm now doing it from CD since I can get the CD much faster. But then I run into other problems, have to go to the forums and read about the workarounds, which sometimes don't work. And these are known bugs just sitting there...
I was doing those same things with upgrades 5 years ago!!
Now it's been 4 hours FROM CD, selected to NOT use the network, so WTF? And it's a 52X CD reader, so it could read the whole 690M several times over in one hour.
Again, why is this such a problem EVERY DAMN TIME I UPGRADE UBUNTU!!!
