Ubuntu Quickly 'builder' object will not auto complete in eclipse
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 15, 2012
I am trying to use Quickly to develop a GUI App. I am editing my code with eclipse/Pydev just because I prefer that over Gedit, but no doubt that will fill this thread with opinions rather than an answer to my question.
Here is some basic information on my project in case it helps.
Project Name: ListFiles
Call backs to signals located in: ListFilesWindow.py
Here is the question.
I am using the 'builder' object to set_text() and get_text() but I don't get any code completion.
I am assuming that this object has been created by 'Gtk.Builder'. If I make calls directly to Gtk.Builder code completion does work, but this is just creating a new object that is not linked to the GUI that has been created by Quickly.
The following line is included in ListFilesWindow.py by default
from gi.repository import Gtk # pylint: disable=E0611
But even if I comment out this line the programme still works.
So how do I get code completion to work on Gtk objects in eclipse and am I pu
System will not reboot following fresh install

Hi - I have used Ubuntu previously and have always been impressed.
I recently decided to install the new Unbuntu Desktop 13.04 on a new 120Gb SSD SATA disc drive.
As I didn't have an iso disc, I first installed Fedora 19 from a magazine Live DVD and that install worked fine. Rebooted fine and got into the system.
I then downloaded Ubuntu 13.04 from the Ubuntu site and burnt the image to a DVD. I had to use a DVD instead of a CD as the size was over 700 Mb (shame about that Ubuntu!).
Anyway - to the point. I then booted from the Ubuntu DVD iso and installed Ubuntu 13.04 with the option to first format the whole disc drive.
The install was successful. There was then a prompt to restart at which point, the DVD ejected automatically. Then I hit enter and the system attempted to reboot.
It gets past the initial boot screen with the machine logo and recognition of discs etc and then reaches a blank screen with the cursor flashing and stalls at that point indefinitely.
I tried the whole ins
Ubuntu 12.04 will not shutdown; it hangs
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 9, 2013
I'm brand new to the forums! I am running a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and now my computer will not shutdown with regularity. (Sometimes it shuts down, usually it hangs on the Ubuntu screen with one or no dots colored orange.) Restart seems to work well most of the time (as in that only hung once).
I tried going to the safe mode to start and reboot from there; that seems to shutdown just fine.
From the regular (non-safe) version of 12.04, I tried typing in
sudo shutdown now
and could see that shutdown froze on the error

Windows 7 now will not boot and Ubuntu failed
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 22, 2013
Some of you may have notice my other thread about have trouble with getting Ubuntu installed over the last 4 days due to EFI and manual partitioning confusion. On the advice of a member, which I may not have followed correctly, I chose to partition 500 MB and set as a EFI bootloader and assign the grub to boot on that partition. Still got the same crash as before and Ubuntu failed to install. And now Windows 7 will not boot. It looks like Ubuntu is no longer booting in EFI but legacy as I noticed a different screen and remember reading about the different screens between Ubuntu and EFI and Legacy modes. My priority is to recover my Windows 7 cause it would be a disaster to lose it considering my work on it. Then, I would like to run Ubuntu alongside. I have backed up windows 7 on my flash but have no idea where to go. Can someone help? Thanks in advance. If I sound desperate, that's because I am. Thanks.

boot from Ubuntu 8.10 live CD results in black screen can not install
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 11, 2008
I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 from a live CD. when I boot I get the menu to boot to live Ubuntu. I select this and then the splash screen shows the Ubuntu logo and the brown bar across the screen. than I hear the drum role but I get a black screen.
I have an ATI video card on this machine.
I tried to use the safe graphics mode...same result.
I have had Ubuntu 8.04 working before although I seem to recall having this problem with 7.10 as well.
I did some googleing but could not find anything that involved a live CD.
I would like to install Ubuntu but not sure how I can do that if I can't even boot to Live CD.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ubuntu 9.10 livecd will not boot
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 10, 2010
Intel core2 duo on dg965wh board, 4G ram. 500Gb HD partitioned 100G for W xp sp3 and the rest unpartitioned. Motherboard has latest bios and is set to boot from CD.
The 9.10 download burnt on CD will boot, ask for language option and go to the main screen. I cannot make it proceed to installation. I can go to F1, F4 etc, but selecting any of the options on the screen simply sits there - there is some minimal activity in the CD and then it just reverts back to nothing.
Any suggestions will be welcome.
I realize I can use WUBI but I prefer not to be under the windoze umbrella and would like to have a true raw boot of ubuntu preferably with a core boot manager that is also outside of windows.
GNOME terminal will not open in Ubuntu 10.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 21, 2011
I've been running Ubuntu 10.10 for about a month with no problems.
I've installed recommended packages as needed but nothing else.
For some reason, when I open a terminal window now, it cursur flashes for a few seconds then the window closes. I have researched the problem a little bit.
I tried installing Konsole to see if I can get an error message that's of some use.
When I open Konsole it displays: "Warning: Program '/bin/bash' crashed."
Any ideas what to make of this?
ubuntu 13.04 install failed "not possible to install bootloader at the specific"
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 4, 2013
I've got ubuntu 13.04 on a usb stick. I have a 60 Gig hard drive in my computer that is completely blank.
I want to install ubuntu on this drive.
When I boot from the usb thumb drive I can start ubuntu 13.04.
When I go to install the operating system it gets all the way to installing the "bootloader"
Then I get the following message
"Not possible to install bootloader at the specified location"
then there are 2 radio buttons
"continue without bootloader"
"cancel the installation"
I tried installing the bootloader to another drive but no luck.
I really want the bootloader on my 60 Gig drive and want to use the F8 key at boot to select this drive and boot directly from it.
I don't want a "dual boot" system installed on my C: drive where windows 7 pro is installed.
I checked the drive in the program mini tool partition wizard:
Here's what it says about the drive:
49.5 Gig, primary active partition, format Ext4
Xinetd will not start a service after receiving a connection on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 1, 2013
I have configured xinetd on my Ubuntu server to run a shell script when it receives a connection on port 25565, and I have tested the shell script and it is working. However, xinetd does not start the script and I am not sure why. Please tell me if I am missing something obvious. I flushed my iptables first so that I know they are not interfering. My xinetd.conf file is:
