Ubuntu Windows Installer
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 18, 2012
Hi guys, I've just bought a new laptop that has Windows 7 pre-installed on it and I want to switch from Windows 7 to Ubuntu.
I was going to use the Windows Installer for Ubuntu but I was wondering what would happen to Windows 7, would it still be on the laptop? If so, how do I uninstall it?

The aim of this installer is to provide an easier way for a Windows user to install Ubuntu without having to know how to burn a CD .iso, set the BIOS to boot from CD, repartition the disks, set up a multiboot system, etc. It will not replace any of the current Ubuntu installation options, and will not require that Windows is installed prior to the installation of Ubuntu. - OSNews.
Screenshots of Ubuntu Windows Installer 3 are available at LQ.

Installed ubuntu using ubuntu windows installer (DOESNT BOOT UP)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 4, 2012
I have a similar problem.
Brand new lenovo with windows home premium and I did the ubuntu (windows) install. I think it was wubi. Everything worked fine for a couple of days and I decided to set up a shared directory in ubuntu. It loaded samba for that purpose and said to reboot. I chose reboot but was not around to make it reboot into ubuntu and it came back up in windows instead.
Now when I reboot I get a screen to choose Win7 or ubuntu but ubuntu will not work. I get the purple screen with the dots but it goes no farther. Win7 will boot OK. I loaded some photos in ubuntu that I no longer have access to and really want to copy them to a safe location before I try a fresh install.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Installing Ubuntu 12.04 with Windows installer

I recently discovered a different way to install Ubuntu desktops through the windows Ubuntu installer. It worked for the latest version... no need for iso disk or usb stick. Of course you must have Windows installed on your computer... below is the link.
Some may have already heard about this, but as usual I am late in learning.
