Red Hat/Fedora Vs Ubuntu For My Career Use
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 5, 2008
I want to work with GNU/Linux for the rest of my life, and I want to know which distro will help me in the future. I really like Ubuntu, but if getting Red Hat certified will make me more money/give me a better understanding of what companies want on their servers I will learn that.
So, any professionals out there? What did you learn and make money off of?
Oh just for clarification, I would like to focus my skills in networking, whether it be in a local or world wide sense.
Let's not turn this into a bashing thread. Keep it professional.
Arch Linux My first week
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 27, 2013
So I finally did it -- my first Arch install. No I didn't abandon Ubuntu -- far from it -- I just wanted to see how the other side lives in a "more advanced distro". Here are my general impressions for any one else considering a similar experiment
Arch -- it can be complicated. I've used Ubuntu for a long time - 5 or more years and really like the command line. Most terminal commands are not foreign to me, and if they are, I'm very comfortable with how to find help. My first impression is that you actually have to configure everything about Arch and your hardware manually (well almost everything). The Arch beginner guide wiki is very well written -- don't skip any steps, however its somewhat incomplete?? if you have problems with your hardware. Getting the main system up and running particularly if you have an ethernet cable is actually pretty quick. Your left with a tty terminal for a log in. But that is where basically the guide ends and a little bit of the work (a

Mail server on Amazon Web services? Possible?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 10, 2010
We have our web site hosted by Go daddy and they provide us with the mail service as well. But there are a lot of constraints with the mail service with regards to the number of mail boxes, size per box, relays per user and so on.
To avoid this, we are looking at other options. One is to have our own mail server but it will require a lot of infrastructure and expertise.
But Amazon web services looks nice. They have infrastructure needed and all. One thing on my mind is the reverse look up of the mail servers. They wont be associated with the domain as both would be on different hostings.
I am open to both windows exchange server as well as Linux server.
Has anyone done this before or has any idea about it? I have gone through some of the threads in their forum and there are a lot of mixed views about it.
And main concern everyone views is the reverse lookup. This could lead to all the mails sent from my server tagged as spam at the recipient end.

Mounting / Making Accessible my ChromeOS Partition in Ubuntu 13
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 18, 2013
I basically bought this Acer C7 for Ubuntu. Yet when I was installing it I decided to be a bit hesitant with how much I wanted to designate to the partition for Ubuntu/Gnome3. I would like to attempted to merge the two as much as possible, with still leaving something for ChromeOS to basically exsist. I'm heading back to campus Sunday. And I'm trying to get all my systems/computers/crap in order before I get there so everythings working well.
There has to be a way to accomplish this.
Any help would be infinately appreciated.
If this question has been answered or if this is placed in the wrong Section I apologize.
