[SOLVED] Unable to use Java Applets in Firefox using CentOS 5.8
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 7, 2012
I am having real problems in getting Java applets working in Firefox v10.
I downloaded the RPM from the Java site made a symlink 'ln -s ' within the '/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins' directory of the file 'libnpjp2.so'
That did not work for some reason.
I tried doing the same in the directory '/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins'
Even copying the same file into the users directory here '/root/.mozilla/firefox/plugins'
That did not work still.
As a final desperation with what I am trying to do I even attempted blindly copying the file '/usr/java/jre1.6.0_31/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so'
I just fail to get this working, can someone help me out? I have been reattempting this so many times I have lost count.
'alternatives --config java' brings up:

[SOLVED] Web server with mysql issues
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 16, 2011
I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc).
Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error:
Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.
I googled this a lot, and what I mostly found was that I need to add (uncomment) a line in /etc/php.ini
Although, this was found as solution at various sources, when I tried to locate the file myself, "locate mysql.so" gave me this output:
I'm not sure wheather I'm to install some modules, manualy copy this file (mysql.so) or whatever am I supposed to do.
I've installed what was suppo
Unable to decrypt GPG with PHP when using passphrase
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 1, 2012
I'm having issues setting up GPG encryption/decryption to work with PHP. I've been searching everywhere for about two hours, and there are a number of forums and articles and blogs with very similar issues, but I just can't get this to work. The only solid suggestion people seem to have is "check the permissions".
My server is Fedora 14 32-bit. I have:
- PHP 5.3.8
- gnupg 1.4.11-2
- gnupg2 2.0.18-1 (it can't decrypt using keys generated with `gpg` nor `gpg2`, I've tried both)
- Apache 2.2.17-1
- PHP GPGme 1.2.0, extension v1.3.2-dev
The following code works just fine to encrypt data, and can be decrypted on the command line:

Redhat AS server upgrade via Yum using CentOS repository?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 15, 2006
I have a Redhat Advanced Server 4 on my system. It has not been upgraded for several months.
It would bring me much advantage to upgrade to the latest version. However, I don't have enough money to pay for the upgrade service of Redhat. Sometimes I wonder if I can upgrade by YUM using the repository of CentOS. If yes, how should I set the /etc/yum.conf file?
Many thanks to you!
