Unity Launcher .desktop options for middle click
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 31, 2012
i'm trying to come up with a good .desktop file for sublime text 2, but middle click isn't opening a 2nd window, and when I specify an Exec line with --new-window sublime opens 2 windows to start!
Is there any way to specify a different command line when you middle click (shift click etc) on the unity launcher?
anyone have a better sublime text 2 .desktop file?
Name=Sublime Text 2
Comment=Edit text files
Exec="/home/user/bin/Sublime Text 2/sublime_text" %U
Icon=/home/user/bin/Sublime Text 2/Icon/128x128/sublime_text.png
Any way to Minimize a window to the Unity Launcher?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 26, 2012
So I don't post here much, honestly forget to. I'll try to more ... anyhow, i has a question I hope someone can answer.
In most other environments, Gnome2 , Windows etc. you can minimize a window to the 'task bar' ... yet in Unity, I have not been able to figure out how to minimize a window to the unity launcher bar ... anyone know how I can do that? [a shortcut, a hack etc]
Not too big of a deal, I just think it'd be a nice feature!
oh btw, I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 w/the most current stable build of Unity. I also do have the proprietary ATI drivers installed
How to add a folder shortcut to Unity Launcher
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 13, 2011
I have a network drive and I would simply like to add a shortcut to it to the Unity Launcher. I know how to add shortcuts to applications but I'm banging my head on the wall trying to figure this out. I tried searching for related posts but have not found out how. Surely this is in fact simple and I've missed something obvious.
Unity launcher transparent icons backgrounds
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 5, 2013
I've created a pack that removes a background frame of each icon, making Unity launcher icons clean, as you can see in the picture. It also alternates the Unity button to look like mobile version. If somebody will be interested, I can put a version with default icon in it.
Here's how it looks like with Faenza:
This directions was written for Ubuntu 12.04, and tested only with it. It most probably should work with other versions, too, but please create a backup anyway.
If you have another version of Ubuntu you may have another version of Unity, so the folder number in following instructions will be different. You can see which folder you have by looking in "/usr/share/unity/", in my case it contains folder "5". Substitute your number in the folloving directions.1. Open your file manager as root (gksu nautilus)2. Go to /usr/share/unity/ and create a backup of directory "5"3. Extract the archive UnityCleanIconsBackground0.1.t
Mouse Click Required To Save Screenshot Name
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 4, 2013
In previous Ubuntu, one could simply type the save name after capturing the screen using the Screenshot tool.
Currently, one needs to be move the mouse and click inside the name field to start typing.
Anyone else experience this problem? Could this be a bug?
[13.04] Move Unity Launcher to bottom screen
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 23, 2013
My two older post (see it here & here) as been closed ... so i make a new one just for those who want to know more about it.
I was previously saying :
If you have an answer for moving the launcher bar on unity, please post it (if you don't have that answer please don't).
As this time, we know several things ;
- Mark did not plane to do it so 'Official Ubuntu' will not do it (unless he change his mind)
- No one have done yet a script for doing it (or a program so stop using tweaking tool for that)
- Unity impact on linux user's (and yes i'm not talking of my mother who did'nt know that she have unity) is to moving to another distribution ...
If you wanna discuss about the three point above, please DO NOT DO IT HERE. Make you own subject instead.
For know (and after trying to configure gnome 3), i just decided that i was liking unity exept for that, so i decided to use glx-dock (cairo dock) instead of the original unity dock.
What I've do :
12.04 changing unity launcher icon size ...
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 5, 2012
just figured that this other thread with the "same" question is actually dealing with unity 2d.
But I am wondering: how on earth do I change the launcher size using 12.04 and "normal" unity?
I know of two options:
a) previously, one would use the compiz config manager, unity desktop plugin
b) Google tells me that there is a new slider in the appearance settings
on a) ... changing that number in the config manager - doesnt have any effect.
on b) ... there is no such slider when I open that settings window
So, how on earth I am supposed to change the launcher icon size?
unity launcher gets stuck in an open position
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 12, 2011
I'm running ubuntu 11.04. from time to time, the unity launcher gets stuck in an open position, preventing me from clicking anything on the left side of the screen. this is terribly annoying.
I couldn't find anything on the help or in the forums. ideas?is there a *simple* way to change the properties of the icons in the launcher? I have there some custom application launchers that were automatically imported to the launcher during upgrade (they were in the top menu).
[13.04] Move Unity Launcher to bottom screen
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 22, 2013
I try to move the ubuntu 13.04 unity launcher with standards tools whithout finding the option. I also try to use unity tweak, but i did'nt found an option ( I also try ubuntu-tweak but he stopped every time i launch it).
There is several hours that i try to find an answer for that but no one can give me one ...
I just want one thing : Move my unity launcher top the bottom of the screen ... (And yes, we could modify background color of launcher but not that ?)
If you know how to manage that, i take it
