Using QT on Debian?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 10, 2005
I am planning to start building some Graphical applications for Linux using QT. I am using debian Sarge with Xorg and GNOME installed.
How can I get the QT Designer package? Do I need anything else in order to start using QT? I somewhere heard that I need KDE to use QT? Does that mean I will have to stop using GNOME and switch to KDE?

[SOLVED] install 64bit (using 32bit) Debian squeeze.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 16, 2009
I thought it would be easier, but maybe not.
Make my squeeze Penguin (32 bit) dual boot with 64bit squeeze.
1st attempt. (fail)
Using USB stick, install 64bit onto new partition. -> I cannot find 64bit boot.img.gz (hd-media directory is missing.)
Using existing HD partition, boot into 64bit vmlinuz and initrd using lilo. -> lilo chokes, kernel size too big.
3rd attempt. (I have not figured out how to)
compile 64bit bzImage on 32bit squeeze. (I do not see any option -make menuconfig.)
4th attempt. (I do not know the result yet.)
Come here and ask.
I am sure that somebody has done this. Part of my problems include that squeeze penguin does not have optical drive and that no grub (elilo) installed.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Package A qt app created using qt creator
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 7, 2012
I just created a small qt app using qt creator. This app also has certain shell scripts in a folder which are called from the qt app. I was trying to create a debian package for it and even later create a PPA for it. I tried this tool called debreate to create the debian package but i got quite a few errors.
I was expecting this process to be simple , maybe im not doing it right. Would really appreciate some help.

Unable to log into Gnome or KDE using gdm (Debian sarge)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 22, 2003
I am not able to log into Gnome or KDE. I have the latest version of netinstall (12-17-03) for Debian sarge, everything was installed last night. When I attempt to log into Gnome (as a user or as root) the session times out in 10 seconds. This is at the bottom of the log file generated:
line 90: xrdb: command not found
line 90: xrdb: command not found
/usr/bin/gnome-session: No such file or directory
When I try to log into KDE I get an error message that asks if the dcopserver program is running. It will let me log in but then dumped me back out.
Also, how does one get hold of the error messages/log files from Windows so that I might copy & paste them here? This is my only functional operating system until I can get Linux to work for me.
Thanks for the assist!
Freezes using either Debian or Mint with KDE
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 10, 2013
Summary: PC freezes randomly, using it or not, under Debian & Mint latest's versions with KDE, 64 bits. It was working perfectly with Windows 8. What could be the problem???
1) High CPU temperature causing the issue: Doesn't make sense. The hardware was running perfectly under heavy load in Windows, so with no CPU load in Linux it shouldn’t freeze.
This motherboard's CPU temp sensor is not reliable under Linux, but if I restart as soon as it freezes, the BIOS says the temp is 45 Celsius (113 Fahrenheit). I've run this CPU stable at 70 Celsius, so I don't think it could have dropped more than 20 degrees in the 10 seconds it took me to check out the temp after restarting it.
2) Safeboot/UEFI/CSM (Compatibility Support Module): Secure boot can't be disabled in my motherboard. But I've configured OS Type to "Other OS", which is described as "Get the optimized function when booting on Windows non-UEFI mode, Windows Vista/XP or other Microsoft Secu
