location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 11, 2006
Hello,
I have a problem to start SUSE 10 after installing it under VMware.
I already had a look in this forum for similar errors but I cannot solve my problem.
The only think I can see at startup is

GRUB loading stage 1.5.
GRUB loading please wait...
Error 18
------------------------
and then it hangs.
Can anyone of you help me to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my desktop yesterday. After the ejection of the CD, I pressed Enter. The message showed "GRUB Loading Stage 1.5, GRUB loading, please wait....
Error 18. The OS never opened. What have I done wrong? How can not correct the problem so that the Ubuntu opens? Any help is appreciated. I am a novice with Linux OS.
Old laptop won't boot, "GRUB loading... Error 18"

Hello, everyone. I've read similar threads about this problem but I'm not sure what to do specifically.
I borrowed an old laptop (pre 2005) from my sister. Years ago, she installed a version of ubuntu onto a hard drive partition, and I think an ubuntu "safe mode" onto another one. There's Windows XP partition as well.
I've been using the Windows partition. Everything was working well.
Then a week ago, I tried to turn on the computer and almost immediately it saysGRUB stage 1.5.
GRUB Loading, Please Wait
Error 18It refuses to boot. It just sits at the screen. I can't type anything. It's just that screen. Restart and restart - the same error.
I don't know what version of ubuntu it is, but I know it was downloaded before 2006.
I read in the other threads that I need to download a "live cd". Can someone give me a link? I really don't understand what I'm supposed to download - grub, grub-legacy or re-install ubuntu or what?
So okay after that then, do I just put t

Hi! Kind of new to Ubuntu. Used a few years ago, but somehow corrupted my ubuntu installation a couple years back and had just been using Windows. Know just enough to get in trouble
Just reinstalled Ubuntu using a boot-up CD. I have my hard drive partitioned with Windows OS and Ubuntu, so was just trying to update Ubuntu. I now get the GRUB loading Error 15 when I try to boot up computer.
I used boot info script' and am attaching results below.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello everyone, I simply wanted to post a potential solution to this issue. I had this problem directly after I created a bootable Ubuntu USB flash disk. I would receive this error every time that my USB flash drive was not connected to my computer.
If anyone else encounters this problem in the future, you may feel free to follow these directions and you should be on your way to a trouble-free boot in no time =)
*Anything within '<>' symbols is what you would actually type. DO NOT include the < or > symbols themselves*
1. Boot your computer with your flash drive plugged in.
2. Select the Hard Drive version of your Ubuntu from the boot menu (not the USB version -- this will usually be the one on the bottom rather than the top of the boot choices. It will also say something like /sda or /hda).
*Pay attention to the end of the boot choice you select. It will say something like '/dev/sdx#'. In this scenario, 'x' represents a letter and '#' represents a number. Take n

what is Grub loading error 21, and how can I fix the problem!
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 30, 2004
My computer has a partition for linux fedora (the default OS) and also XP. When I boot up, I get the following:
Grub loading stage 1.5
Grub loading, please wait.....
error 21
When I hit enter, I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor. Now, I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, and suddenly the Grub bootloader goes thru with no trouble. What is error 21, or at least where can I find the error codes for information, and how do I fix the problem; preferably without re-installing?
Thanks for any and all information......
please wait...
