VMware Horizon View client on Ubuntu 13.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 9, 2013
I haven't seen much information out there about anyone getting the proprietary VMware View client to work in 13.04. I was able to get the open client to install without a problem, but I believe the proprietary version is more feature packed and I would like to try that version out. Whenever I attempt to install it, however, I get dependancy errors. I have seen this with a few different Ubuntu 13.04 installs so I don't believe it to be my particular system, rather an issue with the default software in Ubuntu. Has anyone else had any experience with this, and if so have any advice on getting it working? I'm a View administrator at work and I'd love to have it rocking on my Ubuntu desktop at home.
Thanks!

I installed the VMware View Client for Linux in Ubuntu and whenever I try and connect I recieve:

Untrusted View Connection:
Failed to connect to the View Connection Server. The server provided an invalid certificate.
The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect.
Having access to my esxi 5 server I able to pulled the rui.crt and the rui.key like what was suggested in the documentation:

Pre-Installation Why I'm doing this notes:
We are currently moving to a VMware View environment within the next 2 months and we were looking for a low cost solution to provide end users with the VMware View Client on DevonIT TC2 and Wyse C90LEW thin clients. We do not want to spend the money if we do not need to, and for us to upgrade all of our thin clients, it would be in the 5 figure dollar amount. The Wyse clients worked, but we were not able to get the DevonIT TC2 thin clients to run the VMware View Client. So this prompted the question of "How do we get our users to run the same OS with different hardware configurations and allow them connnect up to the VMware View environment we have in place?"
Without getting into to much more detail of our setup (which I would like to do), I have built a test VM to see if I was even able to get the VMware View Client to automatically launch without to resource

VMware tools installation fails on Ubuntu Lucid client at VMware Server 2.0.2
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 4, 2010
I try to install the vmware tools (delivered from the linux.iso included in vmware server 2.0.2) following an this artkicle:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VM...ols#Installing VMware tools on Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu Guests
Installation is no problem but vmware-config-tools.py-script fails and displays many errors. it seems to me, that the tools from the vmware server 2.0.2 and ubuntu 10.4 doesn't fix any more. I could reproduce this on an Windows-7/64-Bit host, Windows-xp-host, and an Ubuntu-10.4/64 host with freshly installed Ubuntu 10.4 64/32-bit server or Ubuntu 10.4 Desktop, 32 bit.
After starting /usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl-script the messages from the beginning seemed to me quite like a a problem:
Code:
Stopping VMware Tools services in the virtual machine:
Guest operating system daemon: done
insserv: warning: script 'K01acpi-support' missing LSB tags and overrides
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 2 3 5
