Weird LINUX problem.

This sort of doesn't have much to do with ubuntu in particular but...
Everytime I run linux on my computer, it boots up, and the loading light just won't stop, as if it was stuck. no matter if i'm bootingg off the hard drive, live cd, or anything. It did the samething with the fedora 9 live cd. but when i go into xp, everything just works like normal. It's clearly not a hardware problem. anyone has any ideas?
Weird RAID problem. Trying to UNRaid my disks wont work.

Originally I had my windows 7 install on the 2 WD drives in Raid 0
I've migrated my install over to the new 1TB seagate and windows works fine.
I've changed my BIOS settings to put all of my RAID capable chips into IDE mode.
Windows recognizes both drives as separate and full of RAW data that it cannot interpret (sounds about right to me)
First boot into Kubuntu 12.04 live cd and running the installer:
Shows the 2 hard drives as 1 raid drive. Even though the mobo is in IDE mode.
In windows 7 used disk management to delete the volumes and make both drives unallocated space.
No change in Kubuntu installer
In windows used disk management to format each drive separately (NTFS) and assign a drive letter in wi

I am running out of ideas here.
I run small home server using ubuntu and dnsmasq.
Everything worked fine until few days ago, when I noticed I am unable to ssh/ping other ubuntu machine on my private lan.

First of all, I want to warn you and apologize for my poor english, coz' I'm french ::
I have an annoying issue to make my soundcard work. I know this problem was many times discussed, but I wasn't able to solve it. I search for one week, but it doesn't work! It makes me crazy :sniffle:
So here is my configuration :
Motherboard : Asus P5Q3 Deluxe
Soundcards : Onboard Intel HDA - Theatron Agrippa DTS (Club3D)
System : Linux 9.10 (minimal install) + XBMC 9.11
A/V Receiver : Onkyo TX-SR 607 (connected with coaxial cable)
I installed minimal XBMCbuntu with following this tuto.
Everything seemed to work well, and I tried to watch a video :
Video with mp3 encoded : output only on the front speakersVideo with AC3 encoded : ouptut only on the front speakers
I tried many installations / configurations :
With my two soundcards activatedOnly with the onboard card activatedOnly with the Theatron card activated
But the result was the same... :
Linux problem in repairing/recreating ext3 filesystem
- date: October 11, 2012
This might not be the correct place to ask this question as it's more of a generic Linux filesystem question. But anyway as I am not in any other forum, i thought of asking the Ubunutu Family
Ok. So I am on kernel 22.214.171.124-26 with MIPS arch. It's an embedded environment and I can't do desktop like experiments on this.
/dev/sda1 on /xxx type ext3 (rw,sync,relatime,errors=continue,data=ordered)
On this partition /xxx some important binaries like kernel image and uboot etc resides. I am not totally sure who mounts it at boot up but it's unmountable on a running system.
umount: can't umount /xxx: Device or resource busy
Now due to something, this filesystem on this partition got corrupted. Now filesystem operations are giving errors:
:~ >cd /xxx
:/xxx >du -sh
EXT3-fs error (device sda1): htree_dirblock_to_tree: bad entry in directory #137125: inode out of bounds - offset=0, inode=50462976, rec_len=1284, name_len=6
Mounting FreeBSD SCSI drive on Linux problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 1, 2006
I want to mount my FreeBSD SCSI drive on Linux. I have read many HOWTOs but I need someone with experience to show me how to do it.
My Distro is: SLACKWARE 10.2
My Kernel Version is: 2.4.31
My SCSI drives are sda1, sdb1 and sdc1. This is a multiboot system with XP on sda1, Linux on sdb1 and FreeBSD on sdc1.
I can mount ntfs no problem. mount -t ntfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 for example or in fstab the below:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 ntfs defaults 0 0
So I can read the Windows drive. Now I want to read the freeBSD one.
I have tried to use the command modprobe ufs and that doesn't give an error. Not sure what that does, but load a UFS read module. Do I need to do this with Kernel ver 2.4 or higher? I do it anyway.
Then I try... mount -r -t ufs -o ufstype=44bsd /dev/sdc1 /mnt/sdc1
This returns the error... - wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so.
Nero Linux Problem

In 11.10 whether Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xubuntu, I'm having the problem of, when I try and add a file to the burn list, I get an "Invalid Argument" error.
It worked fine in all previous versions of Ubuntu.
Anyone else seeing this or know of a workaround?
Another Starcraft II In WINE/Play On Linux problem thread

Failed to run a required program (Blizzard Setup) Error code: BLZPTS0000J
I am so tired now.
I have been surfing forums for weeks, trying to solve this problem. I've installed several versions of wine, including the recommended (for WOL) 1.5.10. x86, through playonlinux.
This is the last website I looked at:
I always receive this error. I have gone through playonlinux's game list, and installed it from there, and also used the option to install a file from another directory. I install the game from cd, and it goes well until i'm ready to update, it goes to 100% and then shows this. I've installed the ie6 package, the dotnet40 package, and i had 2 seperate virtual drives WITH AND WITHOUT the plugin mono.
and the DLL overrides in winecfg (set to WIN XP):
i had tested on one virtual drive where i manually browsed for the cd's installation, and another drive where i w
weird network problem, only arp works

Hello people, i'm having a small problem on a network here and frankly it's vexing.
so here we are
yes i should have labeled the locations themselves but please think of LAN1 and LAN2 as different parts of the map [the real map]
in LAN1 i have a 10.11.99.200 dlink des-3526 switch that has a 1 portgbic in it's 25'th port that transports via one channel fiber across town at 1Gbit/s speed into LAN2. now when it lands in lan2 it lands in a media converter, then through copper medium it lands in LAN2 on 10.11.221.200 which is another dlink des-3526 switch in it's hybrid gigabit port 25 [copper]
so it's smth like this
1Gbit link: dlink1----fiber----mc---dlink2
also this link transports 2 vlans: 200[tagged - this is the vlan for LAN1] and 300[untagged this is not important]
the problem is, i have a host in LAN2 which is a linux box, [CentOS release 5.5 (Final)] that cannot communicate properly with lan1. i have given it an ip address

Wine 1.2 sure has a lot of program compatibility, and a few minutes ago I decided to test the idea of defragmentation on linux. Yes, yet-another-defragmentation-thread, but this one has a definitive answer. After verifing that Auslogics Portable Defrag works with wine and recognizes my /home partition, I proceeded to defrag the /home partition. after 58 seconds it was done, NO FRAGMENTATION. It can't possibly get more definitive than that. I believe I have solved, using wine, the long questioned claim of linux and fragmentation. screenshot: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?cs090nlei9hueaa
