Wifi problem Toshiba laptop
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 3, 2010
Hello all. I have recently purchased a Toshiba satellite pro C650 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 via Wubi which has installed ok and boots fine but it fails to recognise my Wifi card or network so I am unable to download any drivers. It also sees my dvd rom drive but not any usb ports or other hardware. I have searched the Toshiba site but cannot find a fix on any of the Linux forums there. Does anybody know where to get a driver update or fix thanks.
IP config problem on laptop wifi port (ip2100) Debian Etch/KDE
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 22, 2008
I have an old Sony laptop with built in eth and wifi ports. I am connecting to a home network via dlink router and comcast. The hardwire port works fine for SMB and IP. The wireless port is apparently misconfigured as I cannot get an IP connection thru it - but I do have a good signal according to kwireless monitor. Output from route, ipconfig, iwconfig are below. I am using Debian Etch w/KDE.
Any advice appreciated... Thanks.

Strange problem with WiFi (RTL8191SE, Toshiba A500 1HK)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 19, 2012
I have this strange problem: with Ubuntu 12.04 on my Toshiba A500 1HK, with WiFi RTL8191SE. So, for the WiFi Ubuntu uses the driver in the kernel, and it works. But - with some strange behavior.
I'm able to connect to all the wireless networks and use them with no problem. But this lasts only for a short time - suddenly I'm unable to open anything from the internet. And the most interesting thing is that I'm still connected to the router. And the other devices, connected to the router, have internet connection as well.
I have this problem on every router I connect to, and had this problem on the other distros I was using - openSUSE, Fedora and ArchBang.
I thought that I may have problem on hardware level, but when I'm in windows - I don't lose internet connection ever.
So, can you give an advise, please, cause this is very unpleasant.
(For example - is there a command I can write in Terminal when I see that the internet connection is gone and I'm still
Wifi on Toshiba Satellite A105 in Ubuntu
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 30, 2006
My hard drive just recently became terminally corrupted, so I had to wipe it and start over. I installed Ubuntu 6.06 on my Toshiba Satellite A105, and everything seems to be going smoothly. However, I can not for the life of me figure out how to utilize the laptop's built-in wifi. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
Half heigh two antenna wifi card for laptop with good Linux compatibility?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 15, 2013
I am looking for a new wifi card for my laptop. I am looking for the following characteristics:
-High quality - High signal
-Full stable linux drivers. I am currently using ArchLinux 3.10.9-1
I had a rtl8723ae but reception was poor at best and the Linux drivers were too unstable to use. At the moment I am using a Intel Wifi Link 5200 which I took out of an old laptop. The reception is Ok and the drivers are stable.
I was wondering if you could recommend some good card.
Thanks for the help!

10.04 wifi problem Atheros Inc. Device 0032 (rev 01)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 3, 2012
My friend has got a new laptop (HP Pavilion g6-1202ea) with the following wifi card:
01:00.0 Network controller : Atheros Communications Inc. Device [168c:0032] (rev 01)
It doesn't show in ifconfig/iwconfig at all. He's been using ubuntu 10.04 for some time and would like it to have on a new laptop (he doesn't like unity). I actually tried Ubuntu 11.04 live cd but it doesn't load properly at some point the display gets completely blank (black) - seems like some display problems.) 10.04 loads without any problems.
Back to the wifi problem: I tried the following instructions but
sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential
tar jxvf compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2
sudo make install
but I get an error when doing "make".

acpi problem toshiba satellite L655 SP6004M
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 5, 2010
Hello all. I just bought a Toshiba Satellite Laptop L655 SP6004M (i3-core, 3G RAM) and I'm having a hard time trying to get complete acpi support on Lucid.
The thing is battery appears as not present and therefore any battery applets will never work, not showing how much power is left -let alone getting full acpi support when unplugging the AC cable, such as adjusting screen brightness, hard drive energy saving policies, etc.
So far I have tried three strategies posted on this forum related to similar toshiba series (A505 S6005, Pro L650, etc):
Patching and recompiling the kernel, and setting acpi=copy_dsts on grub.cfgInstalling a super-recent kernel version (v2.6.35-rc1)Updating the BIOS
... none of these have worked.
Any thoughts on this? Is there a log for the acpi errors/events? Where can I find it?
