[WINE] USB Help?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 17, 2010
So I have this Ion Discover DJ kit, which came with MixVibe's Cross software. The software appears to work in WINE, except for the fact that it won't let me do anything unless the kit's connected. That's how the software is supposed to run. Problem is, the USB kit I need to run won't work with WINE.
Also, when I type "winecfg" into terminal I get this message:
fixme:mixer:ALSO_MixerInit No master control found on Ion Discover DJ, disabling mixer
Thing works fine on Linux, Mixxx even recognizes that it is the Ion Discover DJ midi controller, although Mixxx won't let me use the jog wheels, which is why I need this.
(Mixxx isn't run through WINE)

cannot mount/format USB help!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 24, 2011
I'm trying to get my usb formatted. I was installing Ubuntu to it, but for some error the installation had stopped. and because the installation was on its halfway when it was interrupted, it's neither bootable nor usable.
The problem is, when I plug it in, I can't access the files inside(if there's any). nothing tells me the usb's been plugged in except Disk Utility. I can see it in Disk Utility, but when I try to format it says "Error formatting drive. The device is busy. Details: A job is pending on /dev/sdb"
I don't know if it'll help but here's what appears when I do "sudo lsof /dev/sdb"
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/wubi/.gvfs
Output information may be incomplete.
lsof: status error on /dev/sdb: No such file or directory
How can I fix this problem? I don't care for the content inside the usb, I just want to format the whole thing.
any suggestions p
Itunes 10.5 Wine installation HELP
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 25, 2011
I received an Ipod NANO 8gb for xmas, but since I use Mint11 for my main OS, I cannot use Itunes as I could on a windows OS.
I recently tried to install Itunes 10.5 using Playonlinux, and it said that it installed properly, but whenever I try to run Itunes from either the desktop shortcut and/or Playonlinux itself, it comes up with an error message that says:
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run Itunes. Please uninstall
Itunes, then install Itunes again.
Error 2 (Windows error 2)
I extracted the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file from the Itunes 10.5 executable, and double clicked it to start it, but I get another error message that says:
The file '/home/cj/Downloads/iTunesSetup/AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
I don't know what to do about this, I've al

GRUB Not Booting from my USB... HELP!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 5, 2012
A linux newbie here.
I´ve installed Ubuntu alongside with Windows in my PC.
All OK here. I like Linux vs Windows, but I still need Windows to test some programs.
The problem is, now I cannot boot from USB or CD:
I've created a bootable USB drive from Windows with no apparent problems.
When I set in the BIOS to boot from the USB, that part at least goes normally, but then I'm shown a grub> command prompt.
Trying the command "boot", I get Error 8: Kernel must be loaded before booting. So, how do I continue from there?
Why this does not works normally like before installing Ubuntu in my PC?
This has happens when using a LiveCD (a bootable CD) and botting from the CD drive.
What is needed to launch the install process from the grub prompt?
Or... can I uninstall Grub 2 altogether and go just with the Windows Bootloader as before?
Thanks a lot in advance
Wine+ThinApp = ......?????? (Help)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 1, 2010
Hey there all! So recently I've been playing around and researching Window's programs that can work on linux. Of course, a long standing tradition is to use Wine and hope to find a program that is compatible, however I was wondering about a few things that I hope someone can clarify, mainly pertaining to ThinApp.
I could go on and on for quite awhile about the things I've read pertaining to ThinApp and Wine and what makes them comparable, however the basic question comes down to:
"Can I run programs created in ThinApp on Ubuntu using Wine?"
~~~ This of course barring any programs/software that involves special drivers/adapters to properly function.
I haven't had the time yet to try out any virtualized apps on my linux box yet, but I thought I would post it here to see what feedback you all might have
So, any and all [relevant] advice is welcome.
